Elder of Cups

He sets the cup down before you. What’s this? Water, coffee, poison, wine? You can’t tell what color it is because the surface of it is reflecting the sky. The sky reflects the waters of the earth. There might be anything in the cup. There might be everything. You look into his eyes. Look for some hint there. He is not looking at you. Reflected in his eyes is something you can’t account for. It is no mirror of the present time and place. Whatever it is, it is far more beautiful. You put the cup to your lips. You can see it too.
